There’s something this current phase has been teaching me.

Let’s take a quick walk through it together.

Recently, I stepped into new roles and a different environment of work.

New expectations, new systems, new ways of thinking, and honestly, a new level of responsibility.

But before this phase, I’ve always been the kind of person who doesn’t really ask questions when I’m unsure.

I would rather figure things out on my own.

I would sit with it.

Try different things.

Break it down in my head until I think I’ve gotten it right.

But this season has challenged that part of me.

It has taught me the value of asking questions.

Of not assuming.

Of not trying to “figure it out alone” just to prove capability.

Let me give you a simple picture.

Imagine being given a task, and in your mind, you believe you’ve done it well.

You’ve followed your understanding.

You’ve put in the effort.

You’re even a bit proud of the outcome.

Then you submit it.

And your boss looks at it and says, “Start all over again.”

Exactly.

In that moment, you realize something very important.

Effort is not always equal to alignment.

What you think is correct might not always be what is required.

And that doesn’t mean you are not good enough.

It simply means you didn’t fully understand the expectation.

And this is where asking questions becomes powerful.

Because questions save you time.

Questions save you energy.

Questions save you from repeated mistakes.

And most importantly, questions keep you aligned.

As creatives, we often fall into the trap of independence.

We want to figure it out.

We want to prove that we can do it without help.

We want to look capable.

But the truth is, growth is faster when you are not guessing.

This phase has humbled me in that way.

It has made me realize that clarity is not a weakness.

It is actually a strength.

Now I ask more questions.

Now I confirm more often.

Now I don’t assume I got it right just because I tried hard.

And honestly, it has saved me from unnecessary back and forth.

Don’t suffer in silence with confusion.

Don’t assume you understand when you can simply ask.

Don’t let pride slow your growth.

Ask. Clarify. Confirm. Then execute.

Because at the end of the day, excellence is not just about effort.

And sometimes, the difference between frustration and progress… is just one question.
